New Delhi: India on Friday categorically rejected Pakistan’s claims that New Delhi was involved in the November 2018 terror attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi. Earlier in the day, Karachi Police chief Amir Ahmed Shaikh had alleged during a press conference that Indian external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), had played a key role in the attack.
Shaikh alleged that the planning of the attack was done in Afghanistan and it was carried out with help from RAW. India, however, has dubbed the allegations as false.
“We’ve seen statements in the Pakistani media attributed to police chief of Karachi making false allegations against India for terrorist attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi in November, 2018. We completely reject these fabricated and scurrilous attempts to levy accusations on India,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
The MEA advised Pakistan to stop pointing fingers at others and instead start to act against terrorists operating from its soil.
“Instead of maliciously pointing fingers at others for such terrorist incidents, Pakistan needs to look inwards and undertake credible action against support to terrorism and terror infrastructure in its territories,” the statement added.
In the November 2018 attack, three heavily armed terrorists had tried to barge into the Chinese consulate located in the ‘high security zone’ of Clifton’s Block-4. However, they were killed before they could enter the facility. Two cops and two visa applicants were also killed in the incident. The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed ownership for the attack.
The Karachi Police Chief claimed that the motive of the attack was to sabotage the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and create tensions between Pakistan and China.
