Skoda Rapid replacement revealed, the 2019 Scala – CarWale – CarWale
– Built on the MQB-A0 platform
– More spacious than its predecessor
Skoda has finally unveiled the all-new Scala. The car in the pictures is the hatch version built on the international spec MQB-A0 platform, however the Indian version will be a sedan, built on the localized MQB-A0 IN platform.
Talking about the car unveiled, it is 4362mm long, 1793mm wide, 1471mm tall, and has a 2649mm wheelbase, making the Scala larger in every way than the Rapid it replaces. Not only that, it is also 107mm longer than the Volkswagen Golf. Skoda also tells us that the Scala has the longest interior in its class, and a class-leading 467 litre boot, which grows to 1410 litre when the rear seats are folded down.
Powering the car will be three petrol engines, 1.0-litre, 3-cyinder with a 5-speed manual gearbox, a more powerful version of the same 3-cylinder engine and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder powerplant. The diesels will comprise of 1.6-litre turbo-diesel with almost 90bhp on tap.
It will get all the features too, standard kit including LED head- and tail-lights, and an interior full of soft-touch materials. Depending on the variant, the Scala will get wheels measuring between 15 – 18 inches in diameter.
The Indian specced version will be vastly different and might retain the Rapid name once it gets launched towards the end of 2019.
